Metal
Tip Thermocouples
All
of our metal tips are fabricated from Type 316 stainless steel tubing.
Components are brazed together using high-silver-content, cadmium-free
alloys. The tip is sealed with a high-silver-content alloy to yield
a faster response time than stainless steel tips. The reduced tip
diameter aids insertion into bottle septums and, because of the reduced
mass, also quickens response time.
The
straight silicone rubber strain relief is of 0.250" diameter (.180"
on mini tips) so that even the shortest of probes can be inserted
to the bottom of most temperature blocks for accurate calibration
without the need to use messy oil baths. The right-angle strain relief,
while necessary for bottle studies using stacked trays, cannot be
straightened for insertion into block wells and must be calibrated
in oil baths.
The
metal tip is more rugged than soft TeflonŽ tips. It is useful in production
load monitoring and in extensive validation studies where soft tips
would fail due to abrasion and repeated handling.
The
Pyrogen probes have an internal metal tip which aides in uniform heat
conduction. Unlike the silicon tips on other Pyrogen probes, ours
are treated to yield easier, less painful insertion into animals.
The ring on the probe controls the depth of insertion for more uniform
test results. Key Benefits Longer life Can be inserted into bottle
